My six month placement took place at Cauli Ltd. Cauli Ltd. is a leader in reusable packaging systems, offering smart kiosks that track and verify returned containers, aiming to eliminate single-use packaging. My role as a Design Engineering Intern involved optimising CAD designs for smart kiosks and improving the functionality of the Tap&Go stations. I worked closely with both the Product and Marketing teams, focusing on enhancing the user experience while ensuring the design aligned with sustainability goals.

Cauli Ad 2024 - designed using premiere pro

As a Design Engineering Intern, my primary contributions included upgrading existing "dumb kiosks" to "smart kiosks," integrating machine vision technology for accurate container tracking. My CAD expertise was crucial in redesigning components for the Tap&Go stations, improving functionality and aesthetics. I worked with the Product Team on iterative design processes using Fusion 360, ensuring our kiosks met both functional and visual standards.
Additionally, I contributed to the Marketing Team by creating technical documentation, such as the Client Onboarding Toolkit, and promotional materials, including over 50 posters for client sites. I also led the rebranding of Cauli's website and organised a photoshoot, collaborating with external designers to provide technical data and creative input.
My role required close collaboration with clients and internal teams, allowing me to apply design engineering skills in both technical and commercial contexts. I developed an Excel-based inventory system for tracking kiosk orders, improving operational efficiency. This experience has refined my design skills and taught me the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in achieving project goals.
